Pierre Theodorus Valkering es un teólogo, autor y sacerdote católico romano. Estudió en Amsterdam, Nijmegen y Roma. Se graduó en 1988. Se convirtió en trabajador pastoral de la Iglesia RC en el centro de Amsterdam.
Fue ordenado sacerdote en 1994 y luego se convirtió en párroco en el famoso barrio de Amsterdam De Pijp, en la parte sur de la ciudad.
Valkering se hizo conocido en 2019 a través del libro Don’t stand naked, sobre la homofobia en la Iglesia Católica Romana y sus propias experiencias sexuales. Tras la publicación de ese libro, la diócesis de Haarlem-Amsterdam inició un procedimiento eclesiástico, tras el cual fue destituido.

En el libro habla abierta y detalladamente sobre su homosexualidad, sus relaciones sexuales y también dice que visita saunas gay y “cuartos oscuros” y le gusta ver pornografía.
En ese mismo año, Valkering concluyó una misa con un discurso sobre lo que llamó “el gran elefante rosa” de la Iglesia Católica y con la revelación de su homosexualidad. El sacerdote criticó “la cultura silenciosa” de la Iglesia en torno a este tema y lamentó haber “sufrido mucho por eso”.
Valkering cree que “más hombres gays que heterosexuales optan por el sacerdocio” porque es una “opción de escape para su homosexualidad y una negación y represión de la propia orientación sexual”.
