Inclusión de personajes LGBT en películas

Un tema que por mucho tiempo fue prohibido, “mal visto” y criminalizado, ahora se ve de otra manera

El mundo del cine, a pesar de haber eliminado muchos paradigmas, aún no “normaliza” de cierta manera algunas situaciones, como es la inclusión de personas LGBT en las películas y de hacerlo, en muchos casos es de forma humorística.

Un tema que por mucho tiempo fue prohibido, “mal visto” y criminalizado, ahora ya se ve de otra manera. Aún falta mucho para que en las películas pueda haber personajes LGBT en igualdad de condiciones como el caso de la participación de los actores heterosexuales.

Situaciones como que los personajes puedan ser identificables como LGBT, que no haya exclusión por su orientación sexual, el personaje LGBT tenga un personaje importante dentro de la trama, son elementos que deben ser tomados a consideración.  

La película “Secreto de la Montaña” se atrevió a mostrar la discriminación y al mismo tiempo mostró la realidad de las personas LGBT, señalados, rechazados y con sufrimiento y remordimiento.  

La inclusión es un tema que debe sensibilizar a las personas, porque todos los seres humanos tenemos los mismos derechos, la comunidad LGBT ha luchado por muchísimo tiempo para hacer valer sus derechos.

Las personas LGBT han sido una minoría desde los inicios del cine, situación similar sucede con la televisión, donde también han tenido poca o nula participación en los proyectos audiovisuales.

En la actualidad, hay muchos avances en la inclusión de la diversidad sexual en el cine, pero aún falta mucho, no es sólo cuestión que la comunidad LGBT pueda protagonizar una película o  serie sino que también puedan ser tomados en cuenta en todo el proceso de producción.

Para otros cristianos, más conservadores, su sermón en la Catedral Nacional de Washington el pasado martes estuvo lejos de eso. Un pastor lo calificó de “inapropiado y vergonzoso”, y el mismo Trump se refirió a la obispa en su cuenta de Truth Social como una “odiadora de extrema izquierda”.

La reverenda Budde, de 65 años, es la líder espiritual de 86 congregaciones y 10 escuelas de la Iglesia episcopal en Washington DC y cuatro condados del estado de Maryland.

Es la primera mujer en el cargo de obispa de Washington de su iglesia, que es posiblemente una de las más liberales de las que componen la Comunión Anglicana mundial. Además, es historiadora, madre y abuela.

En una entrevista de 2011 con The Washington Post poco después de que se posesionó en su cargo, Budde habló abiertamente de su apoyo al matrimonio homosexual.

Una defensora de causas sociales

Según el sitio web de la Diócesis Episcopal de Washington, la obispa es una defensora de causas como “la igualdad racial, la prevención de la violencia con armas de fuego, la reforma migratoria y la plena inclusión de las personas LGBTQ+”.

Sus sermones han sido publicados en varios libros y revistas y es autora de tres libros, el más reciente de ellos se titula How We Learn to Be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith (“Cómo aprendemos a ser valientes: momentos decisivos en la vida y la fe”) y fue publicado en 2023.

En su sermón de 15 minutos de este martes frente al presidente, el vicepresidente y sus familias, Budde habló de las personas indocumentadas y LGBTQ+ que tienen miedo de lo que puede deparar el futuro con Trump en la presidencia.

Su mensaje contrasta radicalmente con las opiniones de los creyentes evangélicos que forman parte de la base de Donald Trump, para quienes el avance de los derechos de la comunidad LGBT+ se opone a las enseñanzas de la Biblia.

Desde su toma de posesión, el presidente ha dictado una serie de órdenes ejecutivas, entre ellas una que sólo reconoce dos géneros: masculino y femenino. También anunció nuevas medidas para reducir drásticamente la inmigración ilegal y las solicitudes de asilo en la frontera con México.

El presentador Raúl González ha decidido abrir su corazón y revelar una parte fundamental de su vida que mantuvo en secreto por tres décadas: su orientación sexual.

Esta confesión, plasmada en un libro, surgió de un profundo deseo de buscar “tranquilidad” y “paz”, a pesar de los consejos que recibió para no hacerlo.

Raúl reveló, en una emotiva entrevista con Maria Antonieta Collins para Despierta América, que la razón principal de su largo silencio fue una promesa hecha a su padre.

El presentador narra que en una etapa de su vida descubrió que era gay, lo que fue “un golpe”. Lo guardó en silencio durante 30 años, experimentando primero miedo, culpa y vergüenza.

Finalmente, harto de callar, decidió que la “mentira encadena” y que la “verdad produce alivio”. A pesar de que sus allegados le preguntaban por qué sentía la necesidad de revelar algo tan personal, Raúl insistía: “Mami, pero es por mí, yo quiero tranquilidad, yo quiero paz”.

La confesión fue un proceso escalonado. Primero se sinceró con su hermana, quien le brindó apoyo. Después, con su madre, Estrella. El encuentro más difícil fue con su padre.

Cuando su papá supo la verdad, le hizo una petición determinante: “Mi padre cuando se enteró me pidió que esto no se sepa hasta que yo me muera”. Raúl respondió: “Así será”.

Este compromiso fue criticado por sus profesionales de la salud, ya que, “mis terapeutas, ninguno estuvieron de acuerdo porque me dijeron que yo estaba sacrificando mi felicidad por él”. Sin embargo, Raúl González mantuvo su palabra.

La carrera de Raúl González alcanzó un punto álgido cuando se convirtió en copresentador de Despierta América el 14 de octubre de 2002, una oportunidad que le llegó siete años después de su ‘casting’ inicial. Su padre pudo gozar de este éxito, incluso presumiendo de su hijo en el supermercado.

Sin embargo, detrás de la imagen pública, Raúl “vivía un drama”. Aunque tenía tanto éxito, se sentía “tan miserable en la vida”. El silencio y la ansiedad se manifestaban en una serie de compulsiones: a la comida, al tabaco y al alcohol. La compulsión a la comida, específicamente, lo llevó a la obesidad.

En un momento dado, esta presión interna se manifestó incluso físicamente, pues le salieron pólipos en las cuerdas vocales. Una doctora holística, sin conocer su situación personal, le dijo: “Tú estás ocultando cosas en tu vida”.

Finalmente, el presentador de Despierta América compartió una conmovedora frase y su sentir tras “reiniciar su vida”.

“Dios no ve personas, Dios ve corazones, con esa frase los dejo y les regalo mi amor incondicional. Aquí estoy, este soy yo después de liberarme, de reinventarme, de reiniciar mi vida y de aniquilar los demonios y los monstruos”.
